The south end of Grenada is a bit of a hurricane hideout for yachts and this makes for a real sense of community. Read: Flock of boats ready to simultaneously run away from the big bully nature should he decide to come this way.
This community comes together every morning at 7.30am, VHF channel 68 on what is called a 'Cruisers Net'. It's an open forum chat regarding weather, boats leaving/ arriving, trading of boat bits, social activity organisation etc.
And...... it's the perfect forum for me to read out my pre-witten spiel about this really nice Scottish lad, who has sailed over from France on his trip round the world, has years of sailing experience and is the perfect addition to any boat considering the journey West.

I've supplemented this with appearances at the sailor's happy hours and a number of the social events.

Now, I don't consider myself to have an accent but as soon as I open my mouth at any of these events they all turn round and say 'hey it's the Scotsman from the net'. From this many an option has presented itself however all so far have been delayed due to either boat problems or cases of Dengue fever (bit of an epidemic here).
It's going to/ must happen in the next fortnight (Dengue permitting) as a list of opportunities are on the horizon. They range from a crazy Brazilian surfer who's boat has no engine through to a lovely couple from England willing to squeeze me in on this leg of their global adventure.
