Annoyingly - it was only my pride that got swallowed

Made good friends with some well engineered German girls, sourced a 'map' and headed for the biggest hill in sight (the one up in the clouds). 2500Ft and a radio mast at the summit – easy.

The 'map' was produced by the British Overseas Mapping Department; disbanded in the early 90's. I presumed there would be a road to the top so that the radio mast could be built/serviced.

Short version: the map showed two spot heights next to each other, so I followed the map to the one with a road going to it. Got to the top and looked over towards the radio mast on the adjacent hill.
Lesson: don't trust 15 year old maps. Even if they are British and more importantly not after bragging to two super fit German girls how good the Brits are at making.... and using maps!
